Movie Review: How To Train Your Dragon

April 4, 2010

Rated PG by the MPAA

This kids' movie is the best one I have seen since Cars (Which was, until recently a personal favorite). Besides a little bit of Viking vs. Dragon violence, the movie is completely child friendly and is destined to be owned by most children for the next generation.

In this movie, Hiccup, who is a not-so-average Viking, has trouble fitting in to the normal dragon-slaying, tough Viking village. He is a little clumsy and always getting into trouble, but it always thinking and inventing.

He wants nothing more than to be like his father, the greatest Dragon-slayer in the village, but everything changes when one of his inventions captures a dragon. Instead of killing this dragon and earning his place in the village, he sets it free and gains a very dangerous friend.

This movie, in my opinion, is great for most children. Definitely a must-see, and would be completely enjoyable in either 3D or 2D. Two thumbs WAY way up!

Movie Review: Inglorious Basterds

September 18, 2009

Inglorious Basterds, rated R.

Let me start off by saying, wow. This movie is really something else.

World War II, Nazi-Germany. A special operations team (top secret) is sent into Germany with one goal: to kill Nazis.

If you enjoy action packed movies with no base in reality or the true history of World War II, filled with blood and graphic scenes of viiolence, then this movie is perfect for you. If you love history and movies such as Valkyrie, which takes root in an actual plan to assassinate Hitler, then this movie is likely not for you.

This is basically a spoof of WWII, based on a "what if" scenario revolving around a ticked-off-at-the-nazi-party Southerner and his followers. There are points of comedy in the film, but if you don't go with somebody that you can laugh with at just about anything, you probably won't find it amusing.

Though I did enjoy the movie, I have a strange sense of humor and would not recommend it to most people. I would suggest finding something else.

This movie is for mature audiences only. There is a great deal of  graphic and disturbing violence and some sexual inuendo. Please, go with...
